Release and metadata

How do I release music with After Rain?▸

Fill in the release in your dashboard (type, title, version, cover, date, genre), add tracks with audio and contributor details, sign the contract and send it for moderation. After the check the label passes the release to the distributor, and the distributor delivers it to the platforms.

  • •Upload the release in advance — we recommend at least 7 days before the release date. Maximum speed — we can deliver a release 3 days before the release date. For pitching, upload at least 2 weeks before the release date.
  • •Release statuses in the dashboard: Draft → Under review → Approved by the distributor. If a release is rejected, the status becomes «Rejected» with a reason: fix the issues and send it again.
What should I choose in the «Release type» field?▸
  • •Single — 1–3 tracks.
  • •EP — 4–6 tracks.
  • •Album — 7 or more tracks.
  • •The form checks the match: each type has its own track count.

The distributor's wording is looser (a single is usually 1 song, an EP 2–5, an album 6+). Focus on the character of the release — we will advise during moderation.

Release title and version▸
  • •In «Release title» put only the title itself. The artist name, feat artists, version/mix and release type go into separate fields.
  • •Version/mix (Original Mix, Remix, Radio Edit, Slowed…) goes into «Release version». Do not put it in the title.
  • •Add featured artists in «Additional artists» — the platform builds the credit automatically: «feat. Name».
  • •Do not write a title in ALL CAPS or in lowercase only. In Russian only the first word is capitalised.
  • •No brands or stores (Apple Music, Spotify, Adidas) and no tech words (Dolby Atmos, Lossless, high-resolution, spatial audio) — they are forbidden in both the title and the version.
  • •Promo words (Exclusive, Hit, Best, Top, Free) — use with care.
Release cover▸
  • •Format — JPG only.
  • •Square 1:1.
  • •Size — at least 3000×3000 px.
  • •Colour mode — RGB.
  • •No frames, no brands or logos, no links or QR codes, no third-party covers.
  • •Text — only the artist name and the release title; a featured artist goes with the «feat.» prefix.
  • •The characters & « » - X () are not allowed.

When you upload it to the dashboard, the form checks the format, the square and the minimum size automatically.

Track audio file▸
  • •Format — WAV, FLAC or AIFF.
  • •Sample rate — 44.1 kHz or higher.
  • •Bit depth — 16 bit or higher.
  • •Duration — at least 30 seconds.
  • •Peak level — not higher than −0.30 dB.
  • •Silence at the end — no more than 5 seconds.

The file is checked automatically on upload: mismatches are rejected with a hint.

Track titles and versions▸
  • •A track title is only the title: no artist, no «(feat. …)» and no «(… remix)» — the platforms add those.
  • •Inside one release track titles do not repeat. The exception is different versions of the same track (then the «Track version» field differs).
  • •No numbering in the title («Track 1», «01 Intro») — numbering is generated automatically.
Contributors and roles▸
  • •For each track specify the composer and the lyricist (real full names) — both fields are required.
  • •Featured (feat) artists are listed separately and are not shown as primary artists in stores.
UPC/EAN and ISRC codes▸
  • •UPC/EAN is the release number, ISRC is the code of each track (it distinguishes even versions of the same song).
  • •If you do not have codes, we assign them for free.
  • •If the release was already out with another distributor, give us the previous UPC/ISRC so they are kept during the transfer.
Explicit and metadata language▸
  • •Mark explicit lyrics — this affects the Explicit flag in stores.
  • •Mark an instrumental release if the tracks have no vocals.
  • •Metadata language is the language (alphabet) of titles and names, not the language of the vocals.
Release date and pre-save▸
  • •Upload the release at least 7 days before the release date. Maximum speed — we can deliver a release 3 days before the release date. For pitching — at least 2 weeks before the release date.
  • •Pre-save (pre-order) opens in advance: before the release date pre-order and a 30-second preview are available.
  • •Spotify requires delivery at least 6 days before publication. If the timeline is shorter, the release may appear on Spotify later than on the other platforms.
Pitching and promotion▸
  • •We send releases for pitching to VK Music — editors can add tracks to playlists.
  • •To send a pitch, upload the release at least 2 weeks before the release date.
  • •You can request promo support in your dashboard after submitting the release.
How do I change the artist alias?▸

Artist aliases are changed through support in your dashboard — open a request and we will change the alias in our system.

Rights and rules

Remixes, covers and third-party tracks▸
  • •A remix of someone else's song — only with rights: you need agreements with the owner of the recording, the author of the work, the publisher and the performer. Samples and third-party vocals also require agreements.
  • •A cover is a derivative work: you need the rights holder's consent. In Russia — direct consent; in the USA — a mechanical licence (Harry Fox Agency / Songfile) with payments to the authors; in the EU — through collective management societies.
  • •Exceptions in Russia: a work that has passed into the public domain (70 years after the author's death) or personal non-commercial use.
  • •An illegal release leads to lawsuits, fines and content blocking on the platforms.
AI content and its labelling▸

Since 2 August 2026 (Art. 50 EU AI Act) a release available in EU countries must state the use of generative AI — this covers not only music but also covers, clips, video shots, Canvas and other release materials.

  • •Labelling is required if generative AI was used at any stage: generating music, a beat or vocals, voice cloning, AI mastering, generating samples.
  • •Ordinary processing tools (equaliser, compressor, reverb, limiter, DAW plugins) do not count as AI.
  • •The rights holder is responsible for the accuracy of the labelling.
  • •

Reports and payouts

When do reports and payouts come?▸
  • •Stream earnings come from the distributor with a delay — usually a few weeks after the end of the reporting period.
  • •The balance and the charges are visible in your dashboard: balance = charges − payouts.
  • •The minimum withdrawal amount is 1000 ₽.
  • •To receive payouts you need self-employed status (NPD) registered in the «Мой налог» app — it is free and takes a couple of minutes. Payouts go to the self-employed bank details.
  • •The artist pays taxes (NPD) independently; the label is not a tax agent. The receipt for a payout is generated through «Мой налог».

The publication dates of reports differ from platform to platform — the exact dates depend on the stores.

How do I transfer a release to you from another distributor?▸
  • •Give us the previous UPC and ISRC — we will keep the codes and the streams.
  • •Upload the release in your dashboard and write to support — we will arrange the transfer.
How do I take a release down?▸

Violations (inaccurate labelling) can lead to fines under the EU AI Act and to publication or account restrictions.

Our track form has a «How the track was made» field (own beat / bought beat / AI) — please answer honestly.

Can I use free and leased beats?▸
  • •There is a high risk that such a beat is already used or licensed by others — it is a time bomb.
  • •Possible problems: your track gets someone else's cover or title, legal conflicts, the track being taken down, and losing both profit and time.
  • •For releases, buy the beat exclusively with a 100% transfer of rights, or make your own.
  • •Free and leased beats are acceptable only for demo recordings — such tracks must not be published on the platforms.
What is forbidden in releases?▸
  • •Third-party recordings and covers, samples without rights.
  • •Brands and trademarks, including logos of stores and services.
  • •Links and QR codes, advertising.
  • •Pornographic content, Nazi symbols.
  • •Frames and characters from films and cartoons.
  • •Logos and names of formats (Dolby Atmos, lossless, 24 bit, etc.).

If an artist's rights are violated, tracks can be removed and the dashboard blocked (see the public offer).

  • •Open a request to our support (in your dashboard) — we will take the release off the platforms.
  • •Taking a release down costs 1000 ₽.
  • •If you want to end the cooperation, let us know one month before the contract ends: after it ends, takedowns and transfers of releases are free.
